Van Taylor Endorses Dan Patrick for Lieutenant Governor
Becomes First State Senator or Senate Candidate to Endorse
PLANO, TX – This morning on The Mark Davis Show, State Representative and State Senate candidate Van Taylor announced his official endorsement of Senator Dan Patrick for Lieutenant Governor.
During this mornings segment Taylor credited grassroots leaders and countless volunteers for the great conservative showing during the Tuesday Republican Primary. Citing Patrick’s commitment to securing our borders, lowering taxes, cutting wasteful spending, reducing the size of state government and supporting tradition family values, Taylor became the first person expected to serve in State Senate in 2015 for the 84th Legislature to endorse Patrick for Lieutenant Governor.
“Dan Patrick is an authentic conservative,” Taylor said on The Mark Davis Show this morning. “I was a Marine Officer … served in Iraq, and we’d often say a sign of a good leader is what someone does when no one is looking. I saw Dan Patrick again and again and again, whether it was working with me to fight online sexual predators or stopping Texas pension funds from investing in Iran, he would do the right thing really when no one was looking… He was very instrumental in structuring a Constitutional Amendment that we believe will protect the Rainy Day Fund… I worked side by side with him on a variety of issues and I am very convinced that he is the right guy to take Texas into our next stage.”
Taylor has also endorsed Senator Ken Paxton who captured a convincing first place finish in the Attorney General’s race with over 44%, and Senator Glenn Hegar who is within a few votes of reaching the 50% threshold in the race for Texas Comptroller.

In the Texas House, Taylor spearheaded several pieces of key legislation including bills that protect our children from online sexual predators, make it easier for our military to vote while serving overseas, would verify the citizenship of every voter in the state, close a loophole preventing healthcare fraud and abuse saving local taxpayers millions, and to revoke benefits from corrupt politicians. Additionally, Taylor’s Truth in Taxation rule, which forces politicians to state clearly in the first line of any bill if there is an attempt to raise taxes or fees, has been cited by Americans for Tax Reform as a successful blueprint for other states to implement and was recently submitted as federal legislation by Senator John Cornyn and Congressman Sam Johnson.
Widely recognized as a conservative leader in the Texas House, Taylor has earned the “Taxpayer Champion” award from Texans for Fiscal Responsibility, the “Courageous Conservative” award from Texas Conservative Coalition, was named a “Top-Rated Conservative” by the Texas Eagle Forum, selected to the “Honor Roll” by the Young Conservatives of Texas, and received an A+ rating from the National Rifle Association. Throughout his tenure in the Texas House Taylor has consistently fought to lower taxes, rein in government spending, protect the Rainy Day Fund, and stop the expansion of Obamacare in Texas.
