Plano, TX – Current Plano State Representative and Senator-elect Van Taylor announced today he is accepting internship applications for the upcoming legislative session. Internship opportunities are available both in the district office located in Plano and the Capitol office in Austin.

“Each session our office has been fortunate to have bright and talented students help in our efforts to best represent the people of our district,” said Taylor. “I am excited to announce we are now accepting applications for our 2015 legislative session internship program. In what promises to be an exciting and informative session, our office is committed to providing a hands-on, educational internship experience that allows students the opportunity to gain firsthand experience in state government while developing skills that will help with their future career ambitions.”

Senator-elect Taylor’s internship program offers three sessions: the Session Internship Program runs from January until May, the Summer Internship Program from June through August, and the Fall Semester Program from September through December. Full-time and part-time positions are available with start and end dates flexible based on student’s availability. The application deadline for the upcoming Legislative Session Program is December 15, 2014.

Students interning with Taylor’s office will work closely with staff members on a variety of projects including legislation, constituent services, research, communications, community outreach, and administrative work.

A 7th generation Texan, local small businessman, and decorated Marine Officer, Taylor was first elected to serve West Plano in the House of Representatives in 2011 where he was widely recognized as a conservative leader. Van and his wife, Anne, married after his return from Iraq and are the proud parents of three young girls. Van and his family reside in Plano near the land his great-grandfather farmed during the Great Depression. In the Texas Senate, Taylor will represent the majority of Collin County and a portion of Dallas County.
