Senate District 8 House Colleagues Unanimously Endorse Conservative Van Taylor Senate District 8

PLANO, TX – In an unprecedented sign of early support and momentum, conservative Texas Senate candidate Van Taylor today announced the unanimous endorsement of every state house member that represents a portion of the 8th Senate District. The Senate District 8 House Caucus consisting of Representatives Jodie Laubenberg, Scott Turner, Scott Sanford, Jeff Leach, Stefani Carter, and Angie Chen Button are united in backing Taylor citing his proven conservative record and ability to craft solutions to problems facing the state of Texas and their shared communities.

The longest serving member of the Senate District 8 House Caucus, Representative Jodie Laubenberg (R-Parker) endorsed Taylor stating, “I have served in the state house for 11 years and worked with numerous senate colleagues. After working with Van, I know without doubt he has the experience, instincts, and strong conservative principles to be an extremely effective state senator for our district. He is a proven conservative and I am proud to endorse him.”

Representative Scott Turner (R-Frisco) said, “A proven fiscal and social conservative, Van Taylor is a fearless leader for conservative values. We need Van in the Texas Senate to provide a clear voice and thoughtful solutions for our principles and I proudly join my colleagues in endorsing him.”

Representative Scott Sanford (R-McKinney) said, “Van Taylor is a man of great faith and continues to rise to the occasion to serve the people of his district and the state of Texas. He is an extremely honorable man, we can trust him to move our state and the values of our community forward.”

Representative Jeff Leach (R-Plano) added, “Van Taylor has consistently been on the front lines in the right for common sense, conservative legislation in the Texas House of Representatives and I am proud to support him in his run for the Texas Senate.”

Representative Stefani Carter (R-Richardson) highlighted Taylor’s leadership abilities, “From serving on the front lines as a Marine officer in Iraq to leading the charge for conservative values as a fellow state representative, Van Taylor is a proven leader we can trust. An intelligent and thoughtful legislator, Van never stops fighting for the people he serves.”

Representative Angie Chen Button (R-Richardson) noted Taylor’s perseverance and ability to produce results in the face of challenges and adversity, “Van Taylor has an incredible ability to craft solutions to problems facing our area and state. In the face of adversity I have seen him time and time bring people together to get the job done. I know he will do the same in the state senate and be an effective leader for Collin and Dallas counties.

"Anne and I want to thank Representatives Laubenberg, Turner, Sanford, Leach, Carter, and Button, and everyone from our district who has called, emailed, texted, or posted to social media for their kind words and support. We are so blessed to have your friendship and support in our efforts to fight for conservative values in the Texas Senate,” Taylor stated in response to the key early endorsements. “This is going to be an exciting campaign with much at stake. The early support from our local caucus offers our campaign great momentum as we kick off our efforts.”

A pro-life conservative and lifelong member of the NRA, Taylor was elected to the State House in 2010 behind a strong conservative grassroots effort highlighted by the endorsements of a majority of local precinct chairmen, the Collin County Conservative Republicans, and local Tea Parties. Additionally, in his 2010 campaign for Texas House, Taylor earned the endorsement of nearly every conservative organization in the state including Conservative Republicans of Texas, Texans for Fiscal Responsibility’s PAC, Young Conservatives of Texas, Texas Right to Life, Texas Alliance for Life, Texas Home School Coalition, and Conservative Hispanic Society.

In the Texas House, Taylor spearheaded legislation that would protect our children from online predators, make it easier for our military to vote while serving overseas, and revoke benefits from corrupt politicians. Additionally, Taylor’s Truth in Taxation rule forced politicians to state clearly in the first line of any bill if there is an attempt to raise taxes or fees has been cited by Americans for Tax Reform as a successful blueprint for other states to implement.

Taylor is widely recognized as a leader for conservative principles earning the “Taxpayer Champion” award by the Texans for Fiscal Responsibility, an over 100% pro-life rating from the Texas Right to Life, and an A+ rating from the National Rifle Association. Earlier this week, the Texas Eagle Forum named him “Top Rated a Conservative” and the Texas Conservative Coalition awarded him the “Courageous Conservative Award” for the 83rd Legislature.

Van and his wife Anne married after his return from Iraq and are the proud parents of three daughters Laura, 8, Helen, 7, and Susie, 3. A lifelong Episcopalian, Van and his family reside in Plano near the land his great-grandfather farmed during the Great Depression.
