Another Conservative Group Rallies Around Taylor

(Plano, TX) – Texans for Fiscal Responsibility, a leading conservative organization designed to give Texas’ fiscal conservatives a voice in the electoral process, today announced their endorsement of Van Taylor in the Texas House District 66 Republican Primary, citing his strong conservative credentials, business experience, and commitment to protecting the taxpayers.

“We are endorsing Van Taylor in our first round of primary endorsements because of his strong, conservative credentials and commitment to protecting taxpayers,” said Michael Quinn Sullivan of the Empower Texans PAC.  “Van Taylor’s proven leadership – through his service to our nation and experience in business – makes him uniquely qualified to work on behalf of Collin County’s taxpayers and the people of Texas.”

He added, “Van Taylor brings together strong conservative principles with practical ideas for creating a stronger, more vibrant Texas for all Texans.”

The Empower Texans PAC is the political arm of Texans for Fiscal Responsibility and EmpowerTexans.com, working with more than 50,000 activist leaders around the Lone Star State. The organization promotes sound fiscal policy, conservative principles, and commonsense solutions.

“I am extremely honored to earn Texans for Fiscal Responsibility’s endorsement for the March 2nd Republican Primary,” said Taylor.  “When the legislature convenes in 2011, Texas may potentially face a multi-billion budget shortfall.  In order to balance the budget, I believe that we must reduce the size and scope of government rather than increasing taxes and state debt.  I thank Texans for Fiscal Responsibility for their endorsement and look forward to working with them and other fiscal conservatives to promote a conservative agenda based on limited government, lower taxes, and reduced spending.”

Taylor’s first act as an official candidate was to sign the Americans for Tax Reform’s (ATF) Tax Payer Protection Pledge, promising taxpayers of the Texas’ 66th House district that he will oppose and vote against any and all efforts to increase taxes.

This is the third major conservative endorsement of Taylor in the last week.  In addition to Texans for Fiscal Responsibility, Taylor has been endorsed by the Young Conservatives of Texas as well as one of the nation’s leading conservative voices, Congressman Jeb Hensarling.   Taylor has previously received the TeaApproved label from the North Texas Tea Party.

A successful businessman, decorated Marine Officer, and lifelong conservative, Van married Anne after his return from Iraq and are the proud parents of Laura, 5, Helen, 3, and three-month old Susie.  Van and his family reside in Plano near the land which his great-grandfather farmed during the Great Depression.
