Principled, Respected Conservative Leader Unveils Endorsement on Web Site

(Plano, TX) – U.S. Representative Jeb Hensarling, one of the nation’s leading voices for conservatives, has announced his support for Republican Van Taylor in Texas’ State House District 66.

In a posting on his web site, http://www.jebhensarling.com/blog.php, Hensarling said “having known Van Taylor for almost ten years, I enthusiastically endorse his candidacy and support him in his fight for conservative values in Austin." He added, "Having spent a lifetime serving the conservative cause, Van would make an immediate impact in the Texas House. He has worked hard as a grassroots leader and has proven time and time again to be a strong and consistent conservative voice. He served all of us as a Marine Corps Officer in Iraq and he will take that same devotion to Austin."

Van Earns TeaApproved Label from the North Texas Tea Party

Dec 15, 2009

“Van is the prototypical fast-rising star of the Conservative wing of the GOP ranks”

(Plano, TX) – Republican candidate for Texas House District 66, Van Taylor, today announced that he has earned the “TeaApproved” label from the North Texas Tea Party.

The North Texas Tea Party wrote of Taylor:

His life of late has been as a conservative activist within the Party, having served any number of roles both as campaigner and activist within the GOP throughout Texas.  He too has shown both political courage in the past (forming a Republican club in Harvard) and the physical courage and service of a Marine officer in battle.  While newer to the district, Van has served conservative causes across the state under the GOP banner, everything from precinct chair to state advocate for military voters.  Van is the prototypical fast-rising star of the Conservative wing of the GOP ranks.”

Last week, Taylor attended the Collin County Election Rally hosted by the Collin County Tea Party, the North Texas Tea Party, and the Conservative Alliance of Texas at the Collin College Spring Creek Campus in Plano.  More than 300 people attended the event.

“I am very honored to have received the TeaApproved label,” said Taylor.  “This clearly shows the momentum building behind our campaign.  The North Texas Tea Party and their activists recognize that we are at a crossroads in Austin and we need elected officials that have the conservative values and political courage to fight against big government, keep taxes low, and stop runaway spending.  I am honored to have received their support.”

According to the North Texas Tea Party website, to become TeaApproved:

…a significant number of our more active members sit down and discuss the individuals experiences and philosophies and review as much as possible the candidates background, involvement, deeds and associations (which are FAR more telling than the words).  The two primary criteria that have to be met: do the vast majority of the involved members feel that the individual will support the 5 Principles while in office (limited government, fiscal responsibility, personal responsibility, rule of law and national sovereignty), and are they prepared and viable for the campaign

Taylor announced his intent to seek office in Texas House District 66 on Friday, December 4th and officially filed to run at the Collin County Republican Headquarters the following Monday.  Last week he announced that his first television ad has started airing across cable systems in Plano.

Van and his wife Anne married after his return from Iraq and are the proud parents of Laura, 4, Helen, 3, and two-month old Susie, the latest blessing to the Taylor family.  Van and his family reside in Plano near the land which his great-grandfather farmed during the Great Depression.

Van Files for State Representative,  Launches Television Campaign

Dec 08, 2009

(Plano, TX) – Last night at the Collin County Republican Headquarters, Republican Van Taylor filed to launch his campaign for state representative.  Also on Monday, Taylor unveiled an introductory campaign commercial, which highlights his service as a United States Marine in Iraq, his dedication to conservative principles, and his reasons for running.

Taylor said, “It’s an honor and privilege to file the official papers that will place my name on the March 2nd ballot.  Over the next twelve weeks, we will be sharing a conservative message with Republicans across Plano and asking for their support.”

The initial television spot, running on cable systems across the district, reminds voters of Van Taylor’s background as a Republican leader, family man, and Plano businessman who is running for state representative on a conservative platform to create jobs, lower taxes, and control spending.
