(Plano, TX) – Last night at the Collin County Republican Headquarters, Republican Van Taylor filed to launch his campaign for state representative. Also on Monday, Taylor unveiled an introductory campaign commercial, which highlights his service as a United States Marine in Iraq, his dedication to conservative principles, and his reasons for running.
Taylor said, “It’s an honor and privilege to file the official papers that will place my name on the March 2nd ballot. Over the next twelve weeks, we will be sharing a conservative message with Republicans across Plano and asking for their support.”
The initial television spot, running on cable systems across the district, reminds voters of Van Taylor’s background as a Republican leader, family man, and Plano businessman who is running for state representative on a conservative platform to create jobs, lower taxes, and control spending.
The spot features Taylor’s leadership as a U.S. Marine Captain when he led missions behind enemy lines for the 4500 Marine Task Force Tarawa, including the leadership of the Task Force’s first platoon entering Iraq before the start of the main invasion in 2003. Taylor’s platoon encountered, and defeated, several Fedayeen ambushes. His platoon helped rescue an American prisoner of war and rescued 31 wounded men during a counter-attack by several thousand Iraqis. For his service, the Marine Corps awarded Van the Navy Commendation Medal with a “V” for Valor, the Combat Action Ribbon, and the Presidential Unit Citation.
Today, Van is a businessman who works at Churchill Capital Company, a firm focused on real estate finance. He is also the Vice Chairman of Texas Gulf Bancshares, whose bank is one of the most sound banks in Texas with almost 100 employees and over $280 million in assets.
Van and his wife Anne married after his return from Iraq and are the proud parents of Laura, 4, Helen, 3, and two-month old Susie, the latest blessing to the Taylor family. Van and his family reside in Plano near the land which his great-grandfather farmed during the Great Depression.

Hi Van,
I enjoyed visiting with you this week and I just heard that Jeb has endorsed you. Congrats, that is awesome! He is a good conservative guy and you could learn much from him.
I will be attending next weeks forum at CCCC and I am anxious to hear you speak.
Some advice, be prepared as this could make or break your success in winning.Know the issues and speak from the heart, give credit where credit is due. Yes, you have accomplished a lot but don’t forget people like to see politicians/successful people with a sense of modesty and appreciation for the efforts of others.
Many tea party folks will be attending who are campaigning for Wayne, not so sure about Mabrie. Even though you have been endorsed by the tea party so has Wayne and he has a big head start on you. People have been walking neighborhoods and making calls for months. He has been working hard since this whole mess began in congress. HE HAS BEEN VISIBLE and vocal.
We need true conservative leadership in America. My prayers will be with both you and Wayne next week. One of you will EARN my vote.
Best wishes,
Terry Wade
best regards,
Terry
Got your card in the mail.I wonder? What are Christian values? Do they respect Jews, Hindus, American Indians, Buddhists, African-Americans, Asians, etc.? Why is Planned Parenthood attacking you? What have you done or said to make PP upset with you? And, why do you think that “other liberal groups” oppose Christian values? I would like to read a list of your Christian values so that I can decide if I agree with you. Then, I’ll know if I should vote for you.
